All you need to know about the Ford Focus and Kuga

Ford bring two strong establishes family car contenders to the table. Having had a strong position in the UK history since the origins of motoring has allowed Ford to remain a strong market leader.

These two models may differ greatly in size, with the Kuga being the bigger brother of the Focus, they are both strong contenders for family cars. With the Focus being named the second-best family hatchback in 2016 by AutoCar and the Kuga being rated 4.1/5 by its owners and is a recommended family car by 4x4 reviews.

The Focus and Kuga are two varying types of family car both available in either Zetec or Titanium trim, the Titanium is the preferred style of Ford buyers within the UK. Whereas, the Zetec has a sportier look which is well suited on its Focus Ecoboost, with standard specification the Zetec is well-equipped and great value. The Kuga and Focus alike have generous space for both driver and passengers allowing you to easily manoeuvre car seats with the option of expanding boot space by folding rear seats, combined with a low load lip which accommodates anything from the weekly shop to the family’s holiday luggage. The Kuga SUV has an often favoured elevated driving position offering greater driving visibility and added height, with its 2.0 litre engine and 19” alloys on its Titanium trim, it allows it to glide over bumps and pot holes, preventing any motion sickness or discomfort for the children. As with all Ford’s the handling rivals its competitors keeping comfort and control a priority. When it comes to entertainment, DAB, Bluetooth and voice control are standard on most model. The titanium model includes additional luxuries such as cruise and climate control for added in car comfort.

The Focus is a spacious hatchback, with a 1.0 litre engine this may not seem like a lot, however the engine combines turbocharging and direct fuel injection giving better efficiency and performance. The Focus is perfect for long journeys; the driver’s seat has adjustable lumbar support with cloth upholstery to ensure support and comfort as well as dual electronic automatic air conditioning in the Titanium model so there’ll be no bickering over temperature. Safety is at the fore front with a 5-star NCAP safety rating and Isofix mounting points on the outer rear seats, which is essential for parents when securing children’s car seats.
