What is ULEZ? In 2015, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was announced by Boris Johson, the then Mayor London, as a way of reducing air pollution in the city. It was formally introduced in 2017. ULEZ operates 24/7, 365 days a year (except Christmas Day). This means that if you drive a car in London that doesn’t meet ULEZ emissions standards, you’ll be liable for a tariff. ULEZ-friendly vehicles:
● Cars/vans with a Euro 4 (petrol) engine
● Cars/vans with a Euro 6 (diesel) engine
● Motorcycles with a Euro 3 engine
What areas are affected by ULEZ? ULEZ now includes all 32 London boroughs, which means that the majority of areas contained within the M25 are affected.
What are the ULEZ charges? If you drive a non-compliant car anywhere in London, you’ll be required to pay a daily £12.50. For example, if you drive on five different days through the capital, you’ll need to pay a total of £62.50. View Charges

What is ULEZ and why was it introduced?

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was devised as a way of reducing air pollution and improving air quality in London. It does so by discouraging the use of vehicles that emit high levels of CO2 and NOx emissions.​​

What are ULEZ's boundaries and when does it apply?

Yes. DVLA-registered disabled vehicles, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and London-licensed taxis are among those vehicles that are currently exempt. For full details, please visit Transport for London. ​​
