Is your vehicle's MOT due? Book now to avoid disappointment

During the first lockdown, the DVLA issued a notice to extend MOT certificate validity for up to 6 months. This was to help those who physically couldn’t get to the garage because they were shielding or otherwise incapacitated.

Here at Thame Cars we offer a collect and return service and continue to do so through this next lockdown, but some people understandably took advantage of the extension.

When this was brought to an end the laws of unintended consequences kicked into action, as everybody rushed to book their vehicles in for the compulsory annual test and found that it wasn’t as easy to get an appointment as it had been pre-lockdown!

Our service department has been working hard to get through the backlog of urgent MOTs and are pleased to report that we are still taking bookings.

Which means that if your car is due it’s MOT this month, we are confident that we will be able to fit you in. Fortunately the latest lockdown rules allow us to continue operating our Covid-secure service department at full capacity.

MOT’s are mandatory for all cars 3 years or older. If you think you will struggle to get your car to us please let us know and we can arrange for one of our drivers to collect it from your home. We will carry out the MOT and go through the results with you over the phone.

If there is work required to bring it up to the required standards for a pass we will let you know what your options are, and whilst there is no obligation to have us do the work we would be happy to do so whilst we have it still booked in.
