MOT Enquiry

All cars, after three years of their original registration date, require a car MOT by law.

You can MOT your car 28 days before your current certificate expires and the balance will be added to your new document.

At Thame Cars we work with fully trained technicians to help ensure that your car is carefully inspected to remain safe on the road. Our team will guide you through the MOT process and, should it fail, we’ll give you an accurate assessment of what’s needed to ensure it passes. Our expert technicians can perform any work necessary to ensure your car meets the MOT requirements, and you will be given a quotation prior to any work commencing.

What does a car MOT test check involve?

The actual test takes around an hour and includes comprehensive checks of the tyres, brakes, lights, steering system, suspension and emission levels. You can either leave your car with us or book in for a “While you wait” appointment and enjoy our comfortable waiting area with free wi-fi, coffee and TV.

If your vehicle passes, a new car MOT (VT20 pass certificate) will be issued. Should it fail, you will receive a VT30 fail certificate and a form which shows the work required to bring the vehicle up to the legally required standard.

In some instances an advisory note may also be issued. This shows items that, whilst legal at the point of test, certain items are nearing the end of their serviceable life and will probably need to be replaced before your next MOT.
